Going to do a short blog here, had a busy weekend in the yard and garden, “spring cleanup” as it’s called … also some maintenance items… for the next few blogs gonna play the music I grew up with… some is kind of hard to find a half century later because that was BEFORE country wasn’t cool..
anyway I met this person on a couple of occasions.. Mom and Dad had a local band and they would play on the radio, at dances, fairs and the like.. he was known as the “Tennessee Plowboy”, Eddy Arnold… I use to listen to him quite a bit on the WLS Barn Dance.. but first a little something from the Barn Dance…
Sooooooooooooooooooo put your troubles aside, pull up a chair and visit a spell… I danced many a dance to this one…
was a busy weekend trying to tidy up, looks like a stormy week…just remember it’s subject to change... here’s the latest for my place in the Universe..
here is today’s outlook from Norman, Okla.. so you folks down wind to the SW of here keep watch on the weather… possible tornadoes, large hail, strong winds along with more rain…
this is the way things are shaping up for tomorrow….
so needing to get some loose ends finished today and “batten the hatches”…. this was one of my mom’s favorites…
this was how things looked here when the sun come up this morning…
with the weather being so nice, Bree has been going at a dead run sunup to sunset trying to keep the neighborhood under control.. crashes and burns around 10 PM and won’t move a muscle till sunup and then do it all over again.. feed her two pounds a food a day and she burns up three..
< here’s a picture of a blackbird standing watch…>
they are starting a nest in the top of the pine.. a pair of doves have a nest started just below them… he’ll sit there and sound the alarm if anything approaches and soon you have a flock of them there ready for a fight.. All kinds of birds use those pines for different reasons as well as other trees… they, along with other yard folk here, have food and water here and no one bothers them...Bree and Miss Daisy see to that…
well I had better scoot, got to go finish up the day… gonna have grilled pork cutlets and leftovers today, beef stew on the agenda for tomorrow.. Soooooooooooooo everyone have a smilin' gooooooooooooooooood day full of Peace Love and Happiness and I'll see you next time if the good Lord's willing and the creeks don't rise....
G'Day everyone, Dutch here! Welcome to my little place in the Universe!
Gonna post a short blog here for the weekend… some of the biker boys down a Billy’s pub pop into my blog every now and then and last night they put in a request for some Johnny Paycheck beer drinking music so I said not a problem… I have three of them, will start with Old Violin, put I Feel Like Crying somewhere in the middle and finish with my favorite The Outlaws Prayer….
Sooooooooooooo put your troubles aside, pull up a chair and visit a spell….
My new pc came yesterday and in the process of getting it set up… dreary and cool today so now’s the perfect time to be working on it.. just getting the basics for the moment… this weekend is suppose to be a good one..
Saturday; Mostly sunny, with a high near 61F degrees. Southwest wind between 3 and 7 mph.
Saturday Night; Partly cloudy, with a low around 37F degrees. South southeast wind between 5 and 7 mph
Sunday; Mostly sunny, with a high near 67F degrees. South wind between 7 and 13 mph.
With that being said it will a busy time and I probably won’t be in here much if at all until Monday or so… could be a rainy week next and got the ponds, some wiring and the like to do… and fire up the charcoal grille to make it official… So with that I’ll see you folks next week…. a little more Paycheck
so taking this time to wish everyone a
and you will always been in my

G'Day everyone, Dutch here! Welcome to my little place in the Universe!
gonna do a short blog here… been kind of cold and rainy, calling for more tomorrow and tomorrow night.. not a whole lot to blog about…. was checking out the music selection and decided on Johnny Rivers today… had some hits while I was in Vietnam…
soooooooooooooo put your troubles aside, pull up a chair and visit a spell….
The weather folks are calling mainly for rain in this area at this time… thinking the severe stuff will stay to the south… here is a map from the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla…. it is effective from 7 AM Wednesday morning to 7 AM Thursday morning, Central Daylight Savings Time… it is subject to change, of course…
Got out and about a short while ago and found this artificial palm tree growing a ear of corn…
actually one of Attilia’s offspring decided to use it as a hiding place… wonder how long it will take before he remembers where it is.. probably move it before then… also have had a few folks ask how my tomatoes are doing… not to bad so far..
also decided to start some Roma tomatoes, we like them on salads and they are easy to grow in a pot… you can see the tray to the left of other tomatoes… got a couple of hummingbird feeders out…..
as soon as I see evidence they are around I’ll put more out… was inside getting some lunch when I saw a cardinal on the suet feeder…
there are quite a few of them around at the moment.. a lot of the migratory songbirds are starting to increase in numbers also… just need a little more of a warm up… had 30F degrees this morning… if you folks find running the vacuum sweeper a little boring you need to get you a Jack Russell as the following video will show… Bree just jumps at it and barks, but have to watch Miss Daisy because she will grab it…
G'Day everyone, Dutch here! Welcome to my little place in the Universe! A short blog here today about the weather.... gonna let the Carpenters furnish the music... how I feel today.....
Well, this afternoon and evening could be in for some severe weather... as you all know, I am a observer for the National Weather Service and not only do I have my daily routine every morning (while most if not all of you are still tuck in cozy and comfy) but I send real time reports of weather events as they happen to help the folks at the NWS in issuing as accurate of forecasts, watches and warnings for you folks as possible... with that being said and the weather itself keeping me offline, except just long enough to send reports, I may not be in here this late afternoon evening.... if that is the case am taking this moment to wish everyone a
full of sweet dreams, peace, loooooooooooooooooove and happiness....... hopefully I will be on..
That being said, here is the latest from the SPC NOrman, Okla....
The possibilities of a tornado within 25 miles of a given point..
The possibilities of 3/4 inch hail or larger within 25 miles of a given point...
The possibilities of 50 knot winds or stronger within 25 miles of a given point..
From the NWS, Lincoln for my area....
As an upper-level disturbance approaches from the southwest, thunderstorms are expected to develop along and ahead of the cold front. The storms will likely initiate across Missouri during the afternoon, then will cross the Mississippi River into west-central Illinois after 3 PM. The initial storm mode will be cellular, leading to a large hail threat across Missouri and west-central Illinois. The storms will then quickly assume a linear orientation, forming into a squall line which will produce a high wind threat across much of central and southeast during the evening.
The National Weather Service is requesting SWOP reports during this significant weather episode. Any reports of damage you experience (i.e. tree branches down, trees down, structural damage, etc) will be greatly appreciated. Hail size information and wind gust estimates will be helpful as well. Please relay your reports via eSpotter so that the forecasters working the event receive your data immediately. Thanks in advance for your help!
DATE: Monday, March 31
TIME: 4 to 8 PM across the Illinois River Valley
8 PM to midnight along the I-55 corridor
midnight to 4 AM along and east of the I-57 corridor
THREAT: Damaging wind gusts
Matt Barnes
SWOP Program Leader
Hopefully I'll be in this evening... gotta scoot..
Soooooooooooooooo have a smilin' goooooooooooood day filled with Peace Love and Happiness ….. and I'll see you next time if the good Lord's willin' and the creeks don't rise..
