G'Day everyone, Dutch here! Welcome to my little place in the Universe! Got some morning chores done so thought I would pop in and do a short blog to get the week started.. Over the holidays I purchased a cd of Kenny G, like the sound so gonna let him furnish the music to browse with.

Getting ready to start a pot of homemade pork BBQ. For anyone interested in my recipe here it is good for 1-2 pounds of beef or pork;

You can tweak however you wish, it's a mild sauce for us folks that don't have caste iron stomachs..... had a little snow in the overnight....

and now with the temps dropping (11 degrees since 6 AM) and winds in the 20/30 mph it's starting to blow around making it difficult to see and roads/walks, etc slick..... purchased some food blocks over the weekend full of corn/sunflower seeds, etc.........

you can see what's left just to the right of the feeder. Suppose to be the equivalent of 8 ears of corn and last awhile, however, the word must have gotten around to every cardinal and squirrel in town ole Dutch was having a buffet, come and get it... ....in cold weather like this they need it and I put out a little extra for 'em..... Worked on some shelves for Kathy over the weekend for storage in the utility room.....

gives her some more stoage back there, especially larger items that won't fit in a cabinet.... Started challenging the ole pc in a game of chess....

I can save the game as I go so I don't have to finish it right away but play along and get other things done...it also gives me time study the board and to contemplate the pc's next move and my countermove.....

Well, I had better scoot, get the pork started and ready for the Alberta Clipper coming this way...Sooooooooooo, everyone have a smilin' goooooooooooooooood day of Peace Love and Happiness and I'll see you next time if the good Lord's willin' and the creeks don't rise....

And not matter what......

It’s early morning on the 20th of Jan ‘08 and very cold here this morning, got wind chills around –15F , snow moving in tomorrow…..waiting for the rest of the world to awake…..got a few inside projects to do so will have something to stay active while it’s too cold outside...put out some extra food for the “little folk”, that’s what I call the backyard creatures (bird’s, squirrels, etc) yesterday.. Got my chess board set up to take on the computer Not all that good at it but it gives me a challenge and keeps the mind going….will work on garden plans today and what’ll I need to do to get things started later….might watch some of the Packers/Giants football game this evening, been a Packer fan forever…had a major internet provider crash Friday and couldn’t get online.. When opportunity permits I’ll blog about it, it wasn’t funny at the time but it is now...Well, better get the day started….gonna listen to some Don Williams I believe…..

Getting ready to get the day started....going out to the shop and start on some woodworking projects, have some lumber to saw...also need to check on my seed pots and see how many I need to replace and check out my warming pads that I start the seeds on...will be starting the tomato and pepper seeds I saved from last year....also got some new software from the NWS that I need to get myself familiar with as it will come into effect Feb. 1.....looks like I have a busy day planned for myself, guess I better get started.......me and Mr. Don Williams have the same question...... Penned a little poetry while watching the sun come up;

Well.... I just got out of the shower.... dressed and calling it a day...setting here reflecting on the weekend...starting to get into the gardening mode...got out and checked my compost pile which has been battered by the winter winds to see what I need to do to tidy up and get it up and running....don't burn leaves, a sore subject these days here...nobody has to deal with my smoke nor do I put put them in a land fill, just use Vermiculture (composting with worms) and let nature do it's thing....went through my music and found a couple of Tom T's songs.... Well, gonna have some homemade potato soup and grilled chicken breast filet sandwiches for supper...better scoot...

Been busy all weekend, finishing 2007 matters and preparing for 2008... wintery out with a cold wind, a Alberta Clipper they call it.. and some flurries in the air making it a point winter is still here... still thinking positive, checking out the compost pile this morning, putting out food cakes and grain for the cardinals, sparrows, finches and other fellow creatures...got the chess board set up to challenge the PC; and was going through my personal music I came across Don Williams and Tom T. Hall...laid back country boys like me and love their songs.. call 'em "the storytellers" they do.... like this one from Mr. Hall, has some shared sentiments for sure; ... well, better put a close on the day... besides need a refill... posting blogs can develop a thirst...and had to leave something for the next blog.....life is too complicated to do it in a day.....
